Follow-Up Survey Shows Growth in PAM and Identity Governance

Following ETR’s October 2024 Technology Spending Intentions Survey (TSIS), a follow-up study to drill down further into Okta’s customers was conducted. Polling for ETR’s Okta study was conducted from 11/18-11/24 and saw participation from 104 current Okta customers, including 38 from Fortune 500 companies and 50 from Global 2000 companies. Below are just a few examples of questions and responses from the survey. Inquire for full data set and findings report.

[C] Does your company plan to start using any of the following Workforce Identity Cloud modules within the next 12 months?

Of Workforce Identity Cloud users, SSO and MFA are the most widely used modules, and are anticipated to remain so over the next year. Privileged Access and Identity Governance are anticipated to see the largest growth in pervasion over the next year, both eclipsing the 50% mark of Workforce customers and becoming the third and fourth most widely used modules, respectively.

[Among those who plan to add Okta's Privileged Access module] Which alternative Privileged Access Management (PAM) vendor is Okta replacing at your company?

Of those who planned to add Okta’s Privileged Access module in the coming year, 39% said Okta would be their first ever PAM vendor. About a quarter (26%) said Okta’s PAM module would be replacing BeyondTrust, and 9% indicated CyberArk, Microsoft’s Entra ID, and HashiCorp each as the vendor being replaced by Okta’s PAM module.

[Among those who plan to add Okta's Identity Governance module] Which alternative Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) vendor is Okta replacing at your company?

A third (33%) of respondents who plan to add Okta’s Identity Governance module in the coming year said Okta would be their first IGA vendor. A quarter (25%) said Okta would be replacing SailPoint, 17% said Okta would be replacing Microsoft’s Entra ID, and 8% said Ping Identity (including ForgeRock) would be replaced by Okta.
