In addition to consistent syndicated data offerings and market research analysis, ETR excels in our custom work, executing hundreds of custom projects for both our Financial Services and Enterprise Tech clients. This week, we highlight an example of a study on the Enterprise Performance Mgmt. (EPM) market.

This ETR custom survey involved 130 Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) users. While ETR often leverages its community of IT decision makers to conduct surveys with 1,000+ respondents, as seen in this co-branded example from New Relic, this particular survey design benefited from a more hyper-targeted approach of finding the key decision makers responsible for their organization's EPM strategy. Let's begin by looking at the survey composition for this project (see below).

As illustrated above, the ETR custom survey involved 130 Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) users and found that although the discontinuation of support for its legacy Hyperion product by Oracle has benefited OneStream, it did not have as significant an impact on OneStream's success as initially assumed. Initially, it was hypothesized that OneStream's rapid growth was largely due to Oracle's end-of-life of Premium Support for legacy Hyperion, and although the survey confirmed that trend, it also showed that the success OneStream was having in the market was more multi-faceted and due to the products own merit more than the shortcomings of its competitor.

Other factors supported the company's outsized growth, including displacing other legacy players such as IBM and SAP and seizing greenfield opportunities, especially in situations where companies are using Excel to tackle planning and consolidation challenges. The survey showed that OneStream's consolidated platform, integration, ease of use, and pricing were all significant factors in its adoption.

Furthermore, the survey revealed that OneStream's potential extends beyond traditional Financial Planning and Financial Consolidation & Close, with over half of current users already leveraging the platform for Operational Planning that transcends finance. The survey also indicated that while only 3% of current customers use OneStream’s AI solution, SensibleML, almost 40% expect to be using it within the next year and 75% expect to use it at some point in the future.

This is just one exmple of the custom surveys that ETR conducts on behalf of its clients and community.
