ETR Connect Highlights Datadog

Experience the Difference of a Data-Driven Expert Network

ETR Connect

| December 16, 2022

Anyone who knows the name ETR knows that we are obsessive about our data. Everything we do is based on our spending intentions data collected directly from our curated community of IT decision makers. Data is the foundation of our syndicated survey offerings that support spending intentions analysis for public tech companies and the proprietary awareness, evaluation, and utilization metrics for leading private tech vendors. That same data is also the cornerstone of our qualitative reports and analysis, as well as the underlying pillar for the ETR Insights interviews and industry analysis. As I said, if you know ETR, you already know all that...BUT what you might not know is that our data is also the bedrock and differentiator for our expert network platform. That's right, ETR also has an expert network offering; it's 100% data-backed, just like everything we do., and it's called ETR Connect.

ETR Connect utilizes our community of 7,000+ IT decision makers with over $1T of annual technology spend for expert 1:1 calls. We are uniquely positioned to provide best-in-class Customer / Evaluator perspectives. Here are some of the key elements of our offering:

  • 11+ years of spending data on over 5,000+ IT decision makers to target the correct expert for your research projects. Customer / Evaluator perspectives vetted based on their technology spend experience, industry, and company size to ensure your 1:1 calls are more focused and relevant
  • Pay-as-you-go pricing and no up-front commitments. Competitively priced and typically less expensive than other Expert Network
  • Fully customizable compliance platform
  • A dedicated Connect team focused on full-service satisfaction for BOTH our clients and experts

Now that you know a bit more about our data-backed expert network offering, let's take a moment to show you how it works. It starts in the same place where everything we do starts; that's right, our data! Here's just one example.

Since the most recent JAN23 TSIS data began pulling into our research platform, a high level of interest has been trending toward Datadog's data set and visualization models. The preliminary data for full-year 2023 spend intent is now live in ETR+ on Datadog and 550+ other vendors. So far, on a y/y basis, ETR’s Time Series analysis shows Datadog is seeing a Net Score decline from APR22 driven by a combination of lower expected Adoptions and more respondents saying they plan to Replace the vendor. As we continue to collect data through January 7th, time will tell if this trend holds among All Respondents for the full JAN23 iteration. In the meantime, daily data updates are available on the platform, and ETR Connect 1:1 expert calls with well-qualified customers, and evaluators are available with a simple click of a link: service@etr.ai

Once the underlying data identifies a theme or company as a potentially interesting topic for expert 1:1 calls, the next step is mining our curated and qualified ITDM community for the best-suited experts. To illustrate how this works, below we have highlighted a few of our many vetted experts within our ETR Community prepared to speak with you on Datadog as well as the competitive landscape. Please let us know if we can help facilitate a call with any (or all) of these highly-qualified customers of Datadog or if you would be interested in seeing more of our vetted experts on Datadog (or any other vendors).

Senior Director IT Architecture | Large Financial Services Enterprise

"Current customer of Datadog and a former customer at my previous company. In my current position, I adopted them back in 2020 and have a very high level of annual spend but my consumption with them is reducing and will continue to shrink."

CISO | Large Higher Education Institution

"Adopted Datadog in late 2018 through a comprehensive RFP for observability and infrastructure monitoring solutions. I have extensive experience with infrastructure, observability, APM and log analytics platforms for well over 30 years. I have led multiple RFP’s and used several platforms across my career in managing IT environments for mid to large sized organizations. I can speak to the broad competitive marketplace, DataDog’s positioning/strengths/weaknesses, common use cases and trends in this space."

IT Process Leader | Large Healthcare Enterprise

"3-year customer of Datadog with a very high level of annual spend. Have extensive experience of 5+ years in evaluation, selection, purchase, and utilization of Datadog and similar tools, so can speak in depth and broadly to the competitive landscape and usage trends for Datadog and its major competitors including New Relic, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, GitLab, AWS Cloudwatch, Azure Insights etc."

Chief Data Officer | Healthcare Enterprise

"We've been a customer of Datadog since 2018. Our annual spend is at an extremely high level. The competitive landscape for application monitoring and observability includes companies like AppDynamics, Dynatrace, New Relic, etc. For big data, you would be looking at Monte Carlo, Databand, Observe, Datafold and Soda."

Senior Data Science Manager | Large Software Enterprise

"3-year customer with high amount of annual spend. We use DataDog primarily for service monitoring and managing our infrastructure. We also considered Splunk and PagerDuty (that is more for alerting). I’m also familiar with new relic and AWS CloudWatch. In general, DataDog is a leader in this space. There is a demand for AI predictive systems that identify issues before they occur as well as in the log data analysis to help CI/CD root cause issues. I can speak to other topics in trends as well."

Strategic Network and IT Executive | Large IT Services Enterprise

"We've been a customer of Datadog for 5+ years with a high-level range of annual spend. I can provide extensive insights on the competitive landscape (New Relic, ELK, Dynatrace, IBM, Grafana, Splunk, Cribl etc.) and the usage trends as well as market trends in this Analytics/Big Data/Observability/Security space. I've been involved in the entire vendor tool evaluation process (developing purchase criteria, scoring models, vendor tool evaluations etc.) and was on the Core Leadership team that made the final decision. I can provide detailed insights into our evaluation criteria, pros and cons of various vendor tools and how they fared against our evaluation criteria, their areas of differentiation, market trends, effect of macroeconomic factors, growth drivers, and the overall decision-making process etc."
