With two weeks remaining in our polling period, 1000+ IT decision makers - representing over $550B in annual IT spend - have already participated in ETR's 2H'22 Technology Spending Intentions Survey (TSIS), including 143 from Fortune 500 and 239 from Global 2000 organizations. ETR's Research Team published an Early Takeaways report earlier this week, leveraging preliminary data to examine sectors with improving/declining 2H'22 spending intent, as well as inflections captured at the vendor level. ETR subscribers and community members can access the full data set and report on our research platform app.etr.ai

Midway through the TSIS survey period, ETR analyzes preliminary data highlighting the most significant changes compared to year-ago levels (October 2021). The downward spending trends are striking in this survey, as a sector-level view of the data reveals no significant increase in Net Score for any sector, and several sector Net Scores have declined substantially. ML / AI, Robotic Process Automation, Virtualization, Business Processes, Syndicated Research, and Video Conferencing all show the most severe declines in Net Score. Despite the drop, the ML / AI and Cloud Computing sectors maintain some of the highest Net Scores across the entire survey.

In terms of overall Net Score, Microsoft and AWS continue to dominate the landscape with both strong spending intention trends and the highest pervasion rates. The second-most pervasive in the TSIS universe, Salesforce also makes it onto the list of top overall Net Score vendors, though further behind Microsoft and AWS in Net Score. While less ubiquitous than the Public Cloud giants, HashiCorp, Snowflake, Kubernetes, and Freshworks exhibit the highest Net Scores across the entire TSIS vendor universe. HashiCorp and Snowflake have surpassed Kubernetes for the top Net Score in the survey.

Data from ETR's 2H'22 Technology Spending Intentions Survey is tentatively scheduled to finalize on October 6th, at which point the ETR Research Team will prepare to publish 100+ related vendor, sector, and macro-level reports, as well as two webinars; the Macro Survey Findings on October 14th and the full October 2022 TSIS Findings Webinar on October 21st.
